Milestone 04 Update

Milestone 04 Update

Milestone 04 has come to pass and oh man do we have a lot happening within the next month! So in this update I focused on outputting a finished first level, and putting the game into a re-playable state. Between now and mid January I will be focusing on the last major additions to the game so that from mid January to May 2019 I can confidently work on more levels. Let us go over the new additions to the game, shall we?

Milestone 04 Additions:

-Frame mods: With frame mods, during the customization of the players frame the player can choose to take a variety of frame mods with them. Each one has a push and pull relation, two of the main mods for this milestone are 'Extra Armor" and "Extra Fuel". If the player chooses extra armor they can about 1.35x armor for their selected frame but by taking more armor they gain weight and lose speed. This increased weight applies to the fuel as well, though not as heavy it still will impact the player's speed.

-Weapon mods: Weapon mods are different from the frame mods since there are only two per weapon though none are unique. The player can choose between taking extra ammo, or taking heavy bullets. The addition of heavy bullets will allow bullets to penetrate two enemies instead of stopping at one enemy.

-Magnus & Mission 1: Mission 1 is as it stands finished and ready to be pushed out. Though at the end of mission 1 the player is introduced to the main driving conflict in the story. Enemy frame pilot, Magnus, sporting a heavily modified dash frame Magnus is spear heading the invasion operation. Though it does seem like he may have his own agenda to put into action as well...

-Mission 2: In mission two the player will have evacuated from their home base and are on the run, while on the move they spot a friendly convoy that was pinned down. The player arrives and can help, in this mission the player is able to take two different paths. One path leads them around the highway and into a possible enemy ambush though forces are not as strong there. Or, the player can charge straight up the middle and attack head on where the forces are strongest but is more direct.

-Bug fixing: This will be a push to fix any bugs from the prior milestones so that upon returning in mid January the game is mostly bug free.

What's to come

Now to move into what's to come to Mechanized Assault. All of these additions should be finished by mid January.

-Multiple shoulder weapons: This is going to be a new system to allow players to choose their own shoulder weapons/equipment for each frame. The new additions will be one new weapon for each frame and multiple universal shoulder weapons/equipment that any frame can use. This includes a new rocket launcher, a shield generator, a flare system, and much more!

-More frame mods: As I talked about earlier I have completed work on two frame mods but will be adding others. I would like to find a total of 4 mods but granted the weapons also have their own mods.

-Completed Mission 2: Mission 2, by mid January will be completed and re-playable by the player, this is ambitious to say the least and is currently uncertain whether it will get done on time or not.

-Melee weapons: At this point in the games life there is only one melee weapon, I would ideally like 3 different melee weapons. In the style of one from each frame. This too is ambitious seeing that I have no idea as to what the other weapons will be.

-Frame texturing: As it currently stands the game is using standard flat materials for the coloring. During this time I will be getting a pipeline down for making sure the frames will be UVed and textured appropriately.

-Sound profile: In this section I am wanting to make sure the majority of the sounds are recorded and in the game. Possibly even testing out some voice acting for the game.

Conclusion

In short I have a lot of work to do, with what would be very minimal time to do it. But I am always up for a very draining, sleep depriving challenge!
